DIY Dream Catchers Part I

January 28, 2015

This month we are super excited to share the craft of the moment...dream catchers! These beauties have been on our mind for quite some time now and we were pretty excited to get to work on these. When 2 of your favorite things in life are jewelry and crafting, finding a way to blend the 2 is something we do not hesitate to do. Below you will find the simple techniques we used to create these ethereal dream catchers from a mixture of leftover gemstones from the Desert Solstice collection as well as scraps of fabric, lace, leather, and tons more!

The supplies are really up to you. We wanted a white/blush/gold variation on our dream catchers, so naturally we opted for white pom poms, lace, leather, random "feathery" looking fabrics, and fabrics that could be braided. There is really no way to mess up your bohemian dream catcher so use anything that looks pretty to you!

You will need to decide if you want a traditional "webbed" look in your ring or a simpler doily strung with leather. Either way, once you have completed that portion you will begin tying all your supplies to the ring.

Trim your embellishments to the desired length. We did different lengths (longer in the middle and shorter on either side) to create some dimension and fullness.

Lastly, add your jewels and charms at the end so you can see how they will lay on your dream catcher. We strung some initial studs on a piece of blush silk. We also added a piece of gold "chain" to give it a chunkier look. As we said, anything goes with these pretty little things!
